Centre for Social Development in Africa, Department of Social Work, University of Johannesburg, Johannesburg, South Africa
This paper discusses the processes of monitoring and evaluation, and argues for its centrality in the sphere of social development. In the discussion the need for social workers to play leading roles in executing these processes for a post-apartheid socio-economic and political context is also illuminated.
